The Jewish Federation is an umbrella association of organizations in our Jewish community and is responsible for the United Jewish Campaign, UJA, Israel, the JCC of Wyoming Valley, United Hebrew Institute, Jewish Family Service, the Jewish Home, the Mikvah, the Vaad Hakashrut and various national agencies. The function of the Jewish Federation goes beyond the fund-raising campaign and includes planning and budgeting, young leadership programs, education, media liaison, Jewish outreach, monitoring and response, local resettlement of Soviet Jews, and community relations.

"And as my parents planted for me before I was born, so do I plant for those who come after me."
~Talmud

Your bequest or other planned gift will keep our Jewish community strong for generations. It's an expression of your trust in future community leaders. A way for you to be there whenever help is needed. It's your sacred covenant with the Jewish people.

Your legacy can feed the hungry, care for our elderly, and educate our children. It can strengthen Jewish identity, preserve our culture and heritage, and protect the State of Israel.

YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE.

"what’s your #ish?"

The Jewish Federations of North America wants to know “what’s your #ish?” as in, what makes you Jewish? The “what’s your #ish?” campaign is aimed at young Jews (ages 19 to 36), asking them to use social networking tools to express themselves Jewishly via Twitter, Facebook or You Tube and, ultimately, to raise their awareness of Jewish Federations. Participants who submit an “ish” can designate one of several charitable causes to which 25 cents of a $50,000 Jewish Federations fund will go. Hopefully, at least 200,000 people will make “ish” submissions, therefore allowing the Jewish federations to give away the entire $50,000. The campaign is the latest effort to reach the segment of the Jewish population that is considered insufficiently aware of or engaged in Jewish federations. According to a marketing study the Jewish Federations conducted last year only 29 percent of an estimated 1.2 million Jews between19 and 36 even know what a Jewish federation is. The “what’s your #ish?” site will help participants find their local federation, but does so in a way that allows them to do so in a personally meaningful manner. Click here....
