Wyoming Valley JCC Day Camps is a place to discover new interests, develop artistic and athletic talents, make new friendships and deepen old ones, and build skills that will last a lifetime. Summer Day Camps at the JCC began in 1931. JCC Day camp is located at the JCC Holiday House Facility, One mile from Harveys Lake in Idetown. Holiday House is a gated 40 acre property with 24 hour security. A diverse and qualified staff from around the United States participates in a five-day orientation program prior to the start of camp, they provide a 5-1 camper to staff ratio, and they facilitate guided discovery. All directors are over 21 yrs of age. We also employ a full – time Registered Nurse (R.N.) who is on site during camp hours to handle all medical issues. All camps include transportation to and from camp, lunch, and snacks. Before and after camp care is available at both camps and the JCC in Wilkes-Barre.

Maslow Family Foundation Funds
JCC Autistic Program

Thank you to the Maslow Family Foundation

Rick Evans, JCC Executive Director is pleased to announce that the Maslow Family Foundation has again given a grant to the JCC to fund the Center’s Autistic Programs at the campsite for the summer of 2013.

The summer camp program accommodates individuals with autism or other special needs from the ages of 5-40.  The participants have been referred to this program by local school systems and local social agencies.  The JCC camp program addresses some of the obstacles of children living with autism and other special needs. By participating in the camping program, children, teens and adults have the opportunity to interact in a noncompetitive setting, while strengthening and exercising their muscle groups while working on balance and coordination.

The JCC Autistic Program is directed by Wendy Patton and Joan Kleinman.  Special thanks to the Maslow Family for their continued support.
